Lately, I've been playing a kart racing that isn't Mario-related.

Yeah, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. To put it frankly, while there's some online elements that could use some ironing out, this game manages to make me say that Mario Kart is officially on notice. There's plenty to keep you busy offline and you can play with four people locally in almost anything, including online. I like the driving mechanics and items are there and don't make it feel too much like it's all luck like the blue shell (the hornets in the game are the blue shell equivalent but they just put all out in front of the leader and they are able to be driven around them...just that it takes some good abilities to do so).
I certain think people should buy this. It's $40 new, so it's even easier for me to recommend. (Though I hear the Wii U version is broken because of a patch that was released. Ouch.)

Normally, I would not be part of some online rallying plus thinking online petitions are a waste (I mean, I have been irritated with how Tales fans spammed Namco Bandai's Facebook page back in 2010). However, considering what I'm going to bring up happens to be a challenge from someone working on S&ASRT to see if these people can pull it off (and really looked serious business here), I'm willing to make an exception here.
What's going on is that someone working on S&ASRT (Steve Lycett), after seeing people making all these character DLC requests and all that on the official Sega forums, decided to see if the fans can organize and decide on 3 characters (official topic here). If 3 character can get 1000 votes, he will present the results to Sega (while also stating there's no guarantee something will come out of it). So, I decided to go right ahead with it. (The challenge was to show how hard it is deciding on a roster and getting it approved, for your information)
Who do I want? Do I really need to say it? I've only made a reference about it when I talked about me demoing the game at San Diego Comic Con and referenced it again when I showed off the first Nendoroid I got since it's of that certain someone. *coughSakuraShingujicough*
Of course, Segata Sanshiro is the one the fans want the most. I'd love for him to be in it (and I did hear somewhere even the developer wanted him in the game or the previous one). However, I actually want Sakura more than Segata Sanshiro if people can believe that (I'm not sure if saying that would make him come after me. Maybe he should remember he did fraternized with her at one point). Oh, and there's a lot of votes for Hatsune Miku. Yes, that famous Vocaloid. I don't know, maybe the Vocaloid fandom is very...vocal (yes, I couldn't resist the joke). I know it's motivated from Sega making the game related to her. Eh, I'm more of a neutral party, so it's an addition I probably wouldn't care about.
If you did look into that topic and then at each of those linked petitions, I will say right now that, yes, I did sign the one for adding Sakura Shinguji as a character in the game (You just have to know what name to look for on the petition itself...and maybe know how I'll write). I did say in the entry about my Comic Con 2012 experience that I want her in the game as a tribute to the series in something meant for the western audience. Pretty much, just one acknowledgement. I'm not going out there to ask for the first four games to get a localization, especially since Sakura Wars V didn't make much of an impact when NIS America released that in the west. Heck, even if she got in and next game, she had to retire like that Sumire girl did (yeah, I'm referencing that Sakura Wars Sumire OVA), at least I got what I wanted.
Of course, I will say hell will have to freeze over first before something like that happens, so I'm not expecting much out of it, nonetheless that one miracle to happen (miracle being Sakura getting into something like this Sonic & Sega kart racing game). Maybe it helps that it's supposed to be more serious business. Just don't get used to me doing something like this all the time.
