I was playing a game on my Xbox 360 that did get a good lashing from professional critics.
The game I was playing was Splatterhouse, a 2010 reboot of one of Namco's retro game series.
Starting out, I admit that the game's combat system comes off as shallow. Not to mention, the loading is horrible (and that's despite the fact I installed the game on the Xbox 360 Hard Drive). However, I ended up enjoying the very violent aspect of the game that I decided to write it off as a guilty pleasure. Funny enough, one of the terror mask's stock remarks used has it saying, "Admit it, you're enjoying this!" during the very bloody combat. Speaking of the terror mask, I enjoyed the belittling the terror mask was doing (or as I like to call it, "Jim Cummings belittling me!"). In the end, it was an okay game and it's actually a more enjoyable "okay" game. Besides, I have the three classic Splatterhouse games unlocked and can play them.
I should mentioned that this game had a troubled development cycle. The game was revealed to exist in 2008 (where I think there was a small acknowledgement of its existence at Comic Con that year at Namco's booth). Since then, I knew about lawsuits in regards to Namco Bandai canning the original developer of the game and that it was on its way to release in 2010.
I remembered there being a site dedicated to the Splatterhouse series and I ended up reading more about it here. Troubled development cycle indeed.
If anything, it's really a shame that this Splatterhouse reboot had trouble getting out there and just gotten a lashing from critics because it's actually not that bad of a game and it's enjoyable. I'm actually willing to admit that, with all the blood splattering that goes in in the game, I feel like this game would have made a great 3D game (that's 3D as in current trend of seeing images in 3D depths).
Also, I have this shirt I got from Comic Con 2010 and never opened it. Well, since I actually enjoyed the game, I decided to open it and wear it. Oh, and I should show you the back. You probably don't get it, so I'll mention that that disclaimer appeared on the box art of the Turbografx-16 port of Splatterhouse. (Did I mentioned that this particular version of the game was released before Mortal Kombat?)

On another note, yes, I am playing Duke Nukem Forever. I'm refraining from giving my opinion of it before beating it due to its infamous reputation.
