So, I finished up my not-so-simultaneous playthroughs of Resident Evil Code Veronica. One on Dreamcast and one on PS3 (CVX). While it's not my favorite game in the series, it's still good and I'm actually glad I bought a physical, Dreamcast copy of the game.
With that out of the way, I'm wanting to do a special playthrough of a certain game that was originally released in Japan at the end of August 2003, doing it early for its tenth anniversary. It may fly over your head but honestly, considering this is the most well known game in the series, it shouldn't really be hard to figure out.
Seriously, I'll let the game's intro movie set it up.
That's right, I had to link to the game's intro with Starry Heavens to say the game I'm replaying is Tales of Symphonia.
Yes, let's dust off my Wii to use it for Gamecube games to play a game that's going to be ten years old. It's the original release and probably the version I should be playing.
Okay, I will admit I also want to do a playthrough of the PS2 version. I want to do it because that's my Japanese version that I can rename everyone after finding the Rename Gem. Of course, due to the game having an affection/relationship system plus characters designed by Kosuke Fujishima, I just have to rename every playable character in Tales of Symphonia after a Sakura Wars character. Come on, Lloyd Irving and Ichiro Ogami look so similar (not to mention they're both dual wielding swordsmen). Also to give two more examples, I just have to rename Colette, "Erica" because she and Erica Fontaine are both clumsy, naive, not the brightest blub in the house, and have an angel thing going for them. Oh, and I find Raine and Lobelia look similar too. (And before anyone brings it up, yes, I know Genis's seiyuu also voiced Ayame/Kaede, while Sheena's seiyuu voiced Kasumi. No, that's not what's going influence their name changes.)
I'm actually thinking of live blogging my playthrough where I write the entry as I play, sort of seeing what I see of it now.
(And maybe I'll replay Dawn of the New World, haters be damned)
